Over two days, Watershed Landcare and North East Wiradjuri Co will host a group of Year 9 students from Victoria. This hands-on program will immerse students in cultural and environmental experiences designed to inspire creativity, connection, and landscape appreciation.

Activities Include:

  • Cultural Tour: Led by Emma Syme at Ganguddy, students will explore cultural perspectives on the land.

  • Interactive Workshop: Led by Laura Fisher, students will engage in creative activities at Franks Breakaway Farm, using artistic tools to deepen their connection with the environment.

Workshop Themes:

  1. Community Dynamics: Fostering relationships that build community capacity for sustainable landscape regeneration.

  2. Water Cycle: Exploring water management techniques, such as contouring and riparian planting, to restore natural cycles.

  3. Soil and Energy Cycles: Learning about soil health, nutrient cycles, and methods to improve carbon storage and agricultural productivity.

  4. Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health: Understanding the importance of native vegetation in supporting wildlife habitats and ecosystem resilience.

Event Highlights:

  • Welcome to Country by Peter Swain

  • Native plantings on a new contour bank

  • Landscape observation activity

  • Collaborative mural creation using hand-carved stamps

How to Get Involved:
Members and friends of Landcare are invited to join the fun for a day at Franks Breakaway! Space is limited, so register soon if you'd like to participate in this enriching experience. Bring your own essentials (chair, water, lunch, and morning tea). Contributions of food to share with other guests are also appreciated!
