NSW Landcare Enabling Program
The NSW Landcare Enabling Program (2023-2027) represents a significant investment of $59 million by the NSW Government into Landcare activities across the state. Co-delivered by Landcare NSW and NSW Local Land Services, this program builds on a long-standing partnership to support local and regional Landcare efforts.
In the first phase, $33 million was allocated to fund up to 83 full-time equivalent Landcare coordinators and support staff throughout NSW. These coordinators are vital in driving on-ground projects, enhancing the skills and knowledge of Landcarers, fostering collaboration, and securing additional funding to maximize socio-environmental outcomes. Each coordinator also has access to professional development funds to continue their growth throughout the four-year program.
The Central Tablelands Regional Landcare Network secured funding for 6.75 full-time coordinator roles. This is a huge win for our region and the support that the coordinators provide to Landcare volunteers.
The second phase of the program focuses on enabling services, with $8.2 million dedicated to providing centralized support through Landcare NSW. This includes the establishment of a Shared Services Hub, the management of a state Community of Practice, and the development of a digital Landcare solution for improved reporting and knowledge sharing. Additionally, strategic partnerships are being formed to increase the self-sustenance of Landcare, reducing dependency on direct government funding.
This collaborative program underscores the commitment of Local Land Services and Landcare NSW to empower communities and ensure the sustainable management of NSW's natural resources.
