The Great Southern Bio Blitz, 20-23 September 2024
The 'Great Southern BioBlitz' (GSB) is an international event dedicated to finding and identifying as many species as possible across the Southern Hemisphere from the 20th to the 23th of September. A BioBlitz is essentially a biological census, bringing together citizen scientists, families, students, teachers, and other community members to celebrate and document biodiversity.
Purpose
The event highlights the immense biodiversity of the Central Tablelands during the flourishing springtime and engages the public in science and nature learning through the citizen science platform iNaturalist. It's an opportunity to discover and document local biodiversity, connect with fellow nature enthusiasts, and contribute to global conservation efforts.
What is GSB?
The Great Southern BioBlitz is a chance for Southern Hemisphere countries to record organisms during spring and showcase their beautiful biodiversity to the world. Organised by a grassroots network of enthusiastic citizen scientists, the event encourages any one to participate and highlights the importance of biodiversity.
