Supporting Grassroots Landcare

Did you know that the Regional Landcare Coordinator plays a vital role in connecting grassroots Landcare with regional and state-level representation? Here in the Central Tablelands, we’re proud to advocate for our local Landcare groups, ensuring their voices are heard and their incredible work is recognized.

One highlight of this role is participating in the annual Trees in the House event at NSW Parliament House in Sydney. This event allows us to meet with our local MPs and share the amazing stories of Landcare in our region. This year, we had the privilege of connecting with:

Our local MPs expressed strong support for Landcare and a keen interest in the work happening across the Central Tablelands Regional Landcare Network (CTRLN). These valuable conversations are just the beginning, with follow-ups planned to ensure we continue to shine a light on Landcare’s impact in our communities.

Another crucial part of the Regional Landcare Coordinator role is supporting our region’s representation on the Landcare NSW State Advisory Council (SAC). Our SAC representatives, Lawrence Balcomb (CTRLN Chair) and Don Bruce (Chair of Little River Landcare, Shadow Representative), work tirelessly to bring our region’s Landcare priorities to the table.

The SAC, made up of 15 members from across NSW, meets quarterly to share information, align regional needs, and guide the Landcare NSW Board. This ensures grassroots Landcare has a voice at the state level and that our local issues are heard and acted upon.

From advocating for Landcare at Parliament House to supporting our SAC representatives, we’re here to champion the amazing efforts of grassroots Landcare in the Central Tablelands. 💚
