Celebrate Biodiversity Month
Biodiversity is the term used to describe the variety of all life forms on Earth. It encompasses different plants, animals, microorganisms, and the ecosystems they inhabit. This intricate web of life forms the foundation of healthy ecosystems, which provide us with vital services like clean air and water, fertile soils, and a stable climate.
Australia is one of only 17 ‘mega-diverse’ countries, home to a significant portion of the world's biodiversity. These countries cover less than 10% of the world's surface but host more than 70% of its species. Many of our plants and animals are unique to Australia, not found anywhere else on Earth, making our biodiversity incredibly special and worth protecting.
Join in the activities and celebrate Biodiversity Month across the region this September!
